The Pop Can Art sculpture is brought to you by Canstruction, Inc and Spartan Stores! After months of elaborate planning, the sculpture took a team of builders 16 hours to assemble and is built from nearly 9,000 individual cans of Spartan pop, including those the artists drank during the build ;). The average can of pop, it turns out, weighs 355 grams. That means, with nearly 9,000 cans used to complete the sculpture, it weighs in at a whopping 7,000 pounds!

"We thought it would be a great way for Spartan Stores to get involved in the Grand Rapids Community and help bring a fun, visually pleasing piece of art for not only our customers, family and friends to enjoy but for those new to the Grand Rapids Area," said Alan Hartline, EVP Merchandising and Marketing, Spartan Stores. "And of course to pop lovers!"

While you're out viewing all of this year's fantastic ArtPrize entries, don't forget to stop by Schuler's Books. We'll be on the streets (Monroe Center) passing out samples from noon to 6pm on September 29th and October 6th!
